Greetings I am back! This time with a mod spotlight for Minecraft Java Edition.
I acquired the Java edition of Minecraft in June of this year(yes it has taken me a while to get back on here) and I will say the MC Java edition is one of the most modifiable versions of the game with many mods for all versions as well as mod loaders to go with the game. Before we get into the mod review most of you are probably wondering how to install mods for Minecraft java edition. Modding MC Java Edition is somewhat easy all you need is to get a mod loader such as forge or lite loader. Forge is the most common and supports all public released versions of Minecraft Java Edition (i.e not the beta and alpha stages of the game). The process is quite simple and is easy to do. Okay now that the modding is covered now time to get on with the mod review.
The mod is the immersive rail roading mod and is quite an amazing mod for the game and makes a great addition to any Minecraft 1.12.2 world. The mod adds is adds 5 trains to the game as well as the mods own custom track piece. There are 3 steam locomotives and 2 diesel locomotives in the mod for five in total. The mod is still in alpha and does reduce the performance of the game; I recommend not running this on a laptop unless it is a powerful one. For tower and desktop computers I recommend at least 512 megabytes of video ram before running this specific mod as well as a four-core processor( i was seriously having trouble with a two core processor). Now that we have the recommended stuff out of the way time for the trains.
As stated before there are 5 locomotives in the mod and a few different types of rolling stock for the locomotives. The steam locomotives are the Baldwin locomotive works K4 Pacific
This locomotive was used by the Pennsylvania R&R both as passenger and freight hauler. It is a 4-6-2 wheel configuration and is quite the reliable engine in the game and real life.
Next, we have the Union Pacific Big Boy Heavy Hauler
This is an iconic and rare locomotive in real life with only a small number being made. This is quite an unusual locomotive in the fact that it has two sets of main driving wheels and this engine takes a lot of coal to operate. I do not recommend running this train with a survival world unless you have a large chest full of coal blocks.
Last of the steam engines in this mod pack is the British railways A-1 Pepper Pot.
This engine came in the later days of the steam engine and had remarkable safety improvements over the earlier steam engines. Sadly only 49 of these magnificent engines were ever made. There are still some that survive and see recreational use in the UK.
Now, on to the diesel engines of the mod pack.
There are only two diesel engines in this pack so this will be quick.
First, we have the EMD GP-7
The GP-7 was one of the first diesel engines and serve for quite a while in most railway fleets. The engine is not fully modeled into the game as well as the other diesel engine in the pack. Bear in mind that the mod pack is in alpha so expect these issues. The GP-7 survives to this day still seeing some use mainly as a shunter locomotive working in the train yard and some are on display at train museums and shows across the U.S.
The second diesel in the pack is GE B-40
The GE-40 was produced in 1988 to 1989 though it only saw one year of service this established the aesthetic design that most modern types of diesel have. Like I said earlier not all of the diesel engines features are implemented into the mod pack yet. This mod pack is still in alpha so this sort of thing is expected.
Overall this could be the train craft of the newer versions of Minecraft if the creator continues to update it. The diesel engines are not fully implemented as of this time. This is truly an amazing mod and the creator has plans to implement crafting for the track, parts, and engines. I really like this mod and find it amazing to play in a creative mode on a super flat world. Down below is a download link for the mod, forge, and my Youtube channel to see how to install Forge.
